Pursuit of Happiness

“This part of my life... this little part... is called Happiness.”

Will Smith said this dialogue in ‘Pursuit of Happyness’ and that’s when I realized that money’s not just that thing that helps you to buy...

I realized why happiness lies in money...

When you sleep hungry every night, and somehow earning Rs. 5 lets you buy yourself a Vada Pav, its happiness...
When you lose the only toy your child plays with, and somehow earning Rs. 50 lets you buy her a doll, its happiness...
When you sleep on the roads every night with your family and somehow earning Rs. 100 lets you buy a shelter for one night, its happiness...

And the lack of money is the cause for sadness... it doesn’t let you get all those things that you’ve always wanted for yourself and your family. The expectations: yours and others, which you have to live up to, are broken again and again, until finally, maybe you get out of the rut of earning money.

I always believed money to be an evil. I always wondered why a brother would fight with a brother for money; why a brother would fight with a brother and lose out on that relationship for something as trivial as money.

It’s not as trivial as I perceived it to be. When the happiness of your children depends on it, it’s not as trivial. When the life of your children depends on it, it’s not that trivial after all. And anyone would do everything to give them the best...

I know I would.
